FCC details five-step plan for sending text, video to 911
The FCC on Wednesday gave a five-step plan (PDF) that it said would bring about its hinted at media-aware 911 services to the US. The strategy will see it make a proposal gauging the technical needs for sending text messages, photos, and videos to 911. , including the bandwidth. Continue reading

GameFly to offer ‘unlimited’ game play for Mac, Windows
Starting September 8th, game rental service GameFly will launch an all-new client app that will allow subscribers an “unlimited PC play” option to download and play as many Mac or Windows titles as they want from a library of over 8,000 — and growing — titles. Cablevision, Viacom call truce over iPad TV show streaming
Cablevision and Viacom late Wednesday settled their dispute over the Optimum iOS TV app. The deal lets Cablevision keep Viacom’s shows on the TV streaming gateway without either side conceding its legal points.
