Verizon adds $80 prepaid plan, Jetpack 4510L hotspot

Verizon Wireless has added new tiers to its phone and data prepaid offerings starting on May 1. A new $80 smartphone plan includes unlimited talk and text messaging while allotting 1GB of data use per month. Skype updates mobile video apps to 4.0, adds auto-restart

Microsoft’s Skype division has updated its self-named video-chatting and calling mobile apps to version 4.0, bringing enhancements but no major new features to the chat, audio- and video-conferencing utility. Version 4 adds auto-restarting if the application should crash, and the ability to move the users’ own video preview window during a video chat. Sirius app update drops rewind feature for some stations

The newest update for SiriusXM’s iOS and Android app has seen the removal of a very popular feature due to conflicts over licensing rights. As of Version 2.0.2 of the iOS app, SiriusXM has confirmed that users no longer have the ability to rewind five hours on all stations. Sirius cited contract complications involving the owners of the channels that lost the rewind feature, but gave no further details as to when, if ever, the feature might be available on these channels again…. Friday Night Lights author caught by Amazon e-book rules

The insistence on having no lower prices at e-book stores has had a conspicuous if brief casualty, according to an account. Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger shared with the New York Times that he had had his sequel book, After Friday Night Lights, pulled by Amazon after it was chosen by Starbucks as a Pick of the Week and given away through Apple’s iBookstore for free through redemption codes. Apple nabs senior Yahoo exec for mobile iAd division

A senior Yahoo executive who had been in charge of its Shine site for women’s issues, health and lifestyle content has left the company to take a position at Apple’s iAd mobile advertising division, AllThingsD is reporting.
